Friday the 10th
BCBG Max Azria. Simply simple at BCBG, the airy silk dresses were short and long, so light and flowy. The show opened with a grouping in white that imperceptibly shifted to an ash gray and then through a neutral rainbow before landing on black.
Ports 1961.The collection had pretty daywear and cocktail pieces inspired by a trip to southern Tunisia to explore the Sahara. "The sky was so blue and the sand was so gold," Cibani said. "I wanted to create an urban interpretation of someone who's dreaming of the desert." Tawny golds, ivories, and pale iridescents resembled sand shifted by the wind, and the closing dresses in tattered chiffon had an appealing organic elegance, with one-shouldered silk tops in vibrant jewel tones. But the flowing, liquid dresses revivingly fresh. I absolutely LOVE the colours and the whole colletion !
Door.Ri. This collection focused primarily on a neutral color palette, with a ''dash''of icy mint blue and buttercup. Asymmetrical one-shoulder dresses, trench coats, chiffon tops and warm looking cotton blazers. Draping played a smaller role than usual. But overall all of the 30 pieces were beautiful.
Jason Wu. This amazingly colourful collection was inspired by the work of the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. The pants were paired with ladylike blouses and neat striped knits. But all in all, this was a strong and bold collection. Thumbs up !
Christian Siriano. The Project Runway winner's fifth Spring collection, was inspired by various cultures. He tells; "A bit of African, a bit of Asian, a bit of Mediterranean-Greek," he said backstage. The pieces were a mixtutre of sophistication and boho glamour.
Peter Som. ''Popsicle. Postcard. Mimosa. Pool. Flamingo'' = Vacation glow. Backstage, the designer talked about his inspirations: Miami Beach, Peggy Guggenheim, op art. "I was thinking about bringing joy to clothing," he said. "To me, that's what fashion is all about." (SO TRUE !!!). Most of the dresses and single pieces were a mixture of bright candy colors and wild prints, which came all in one.
