#146 Mind-froze/NEWS

So it's precisely 03:50am and here I am just making a start on this blog post. I think my creative juices seem to co-operate with me more at these unorthodox hours. GOOD NEWS though guys! MI. (Rox & I) have been booked to showcase some of our sample designs to some of the most renowned fashion heads in the industry on the 1st of July. Sounds like a while away, but to be honest,  the panic is starting to set in! Reasons being, as a collective Rox and I have made quite a few garments in the year that we have been Melting Icons...enough to make maybe 1/2 collections. But since then we have come up with so many eclectic ideas which are mostly on paper, meaning we have under 3MONTHS to sketch/finalise&CREATE a fresh collection good enough to showcase. I really believe we will be able to achieve this, there is no two ways about it. It's either we do or we don't, and of course we WILL. I know that with everyones support and positivity the outcome to all of this will be greater that we could both imagine.

I can't give out too many details about the showcase itself as I don't want to jinx anything or 'say too much' ...but in due time, just keep posted to the blog and you will find out all you need to know.

So I sketched my outfit ( above ) like a month ago and sawed it last Friday/Saturday..aaand there it is. Looks kind of big on the hanger, but I can assure you guys that it's almost skintight. Pared with some new studded leather wedges ( from modekungen.se ).

#139 Regal Rose Update

In November 2010 I wrote a post about two upcoming jewellery designers from the UK who specialize in hand-made antique pieces. My aim was to get an interview with either one of them and find out about their inspirations and how they broke into the business & also an insight into what it entails to be a successful jewellery designer in the industry. After many months I finally got through to Louisa, who is one half of Regal Rose and managed to find out some interesting things. MI- What is the inspiration behind your work? 

Regal Rose- We are inspired by pure fashion and making the latest accessory to suit whats on the catwalk that season is all we are about!

MI- Ten years from now you will be....?

Regal Rose- We will be the first point of call for all fashion conscious individuals

to find the latest accessories! 

MI- As young women owning a business that requires consistency and the drive to stay relevant,  what is the hardest part of it all? 

Regal Rose- We would say the hardest part is keeping to a business structure..its very easy to be inspired by lots of styles and go off on a creative surge..so
keeping focused! 

MI- What advice would you give to young people thinking of starting their
own business?
Regal Rose- If you enjoy it your half way there, you need to enjoy what you will be doing every day and put all you have into it.. 

MI- Item of clothing/accessories you cannot live without? 

Regal Rose- At the moment we are both living in our leather skinnies! They go with soo many tops! Get the most out of them while you can...summer's approaching 

MI- What makes Regal Rose unique? 

Regal Rose- We are treasure hunters and are totally dedicated to finding whats the
latest treasure! 

MI- What is your favourite Regal Rose piece? 

Regal Rose- At the moment its our 'Pagan - Silver Huge Cross Earrings' they make an outfit! 

MI- What are the benefits of your career? What do you find most rewarding? 

Regal Rose- When your creative its your dream to be doing it all day, so we're very lucky.

#138 18 & NOT procrastinating

In true Africa fashion I haven't blogged in a while. No excuses this time just a wave of laziness and distraction. However, today I would like to wish my fellow Icon & partner in crime Rox a wonderful and prosperous 18th birthday. Lord knows I have been waiting years for this girl to finally reach this stage, I have seen her grow into an amazing woman and this is only the beginning!

Expect so much more from us (good things come to those who wait n'all)! The world is yet to see. Love you girl.
