008#Dunhill Spring 2011 Menswear

Date/Location: PARIS, 27 June 2010

There is not much more to say apart from the fact that this collection is amazing ... simple but effective!

'The focus was tailoring, with the key jacket a high-closing, one-button double-breasted that tracked back to male members of the Bloomsbury group, the English bohos who set the cultural tone of the country in the early twentieth century.'

007#Post-Glasto Fever

To my disadvantage, this year I am NOT going to any festivals! This is pretty upsetting because this time last year I had it set in stone that I would attend one in 2010, but now the year is at a mid-point and I am positive that that's not going to happen. However, it's not the end of the world ... or end of the summer per se so all is well. Last week the plan was to go Glastonbury but I won't go into detail as to why that failed ... but it did ... miserably!

I was going to go down there with my friend Pascal and maybe do a short shoot (check out his work on http://oriontreize.com/), catch up on reviewing and also see STEVIE WONDER & THE GORILLAZ live, but seems like I am going to have to wait till next year to do that. Not a happy bunny!

On a brighter note festival goers should be very thankful that this summer is offering more sunshine than it has in over 4-5 years (for how long I don't know) which also gives trend-setters the opportunity to dress to impress. Here are a few looks sported by some of the most talked about 'fashionistas'

(From left to right: Pixie Geldof- wearing Vintage shirt, House of Holland playsuit, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Marc Jacobs boots, Kelis- wearing Vintage shorts and sunglasses, Shang High necklace, Henry Holland- wearing New Power shirt, Topman jeans, Hermès bracelet, Marc Jacobs watch, Vans shoes, Jameela Jamil- wearing Lacoste top, LnA T-shirt, Topshop shorts, vintage necklace, Coco Summer of I blame coco- wearing vintage shirt, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Casio watch, Church's shoes, Alexa Chung- wearing Lacoste shirt, Levi's shorts, vintage sunglasses, Russell & Bromley bag, Vivienne Westwood shoes )

So guys I know we have been away for a while but that is not because the blog was forgotten about, it was merely due to the fact over the past few weeks Melting Icons has been expanding in so many ways. At the moment Rox and myself are working on 5 main designs that will be headlining the Melting Icons line which will be coming soon (although I cannot specify the exact details as yet) and we are going to be holding a photoshoot in the next 2 weeks to promote the garments and give you an insight on what to expect.

It has not been easy trying to stabilise this project but gradually, everything is coming together. I will be able to go more into detail about everything in time but until then let me just leave you with the latest.

So die-hard GAGA fans will know that she has an alter ego 'JO' ... but if this news to your ears have a look at the images above that have surfaced on the internet. They are supposedly of Lady Gaga as model 'Jo Calderone' on the set of a shoot for Vogue Hommes Japan. Lady Gaga fan/tribute sites are currently buzzing as to whether this is really her or if it as a scarily identical look-alike. You be the judge!

004# Chains&Fur

Aloha guys, just thought I would make a quick post before I forget.

A little while ago I started being interested in going to Boot Sales with my mum, then it became a every Saturday occurrence and I have to say I have found some pretty wicked things there, from 1920 style telephones (£2) to authentic leather stripper shoes (50p), I have to say it's worth it getting up at 6.30am! Last Saturday I got a few things but the highlight of the day was a silver handmade necklace which I got for 50p and a leather waistcoat with a leopard print fur collar. It just shows that you find the best things and places you least expect.

This is just a short post because we are working on a lot more ideas and we are going to be bringing you some original Melting Icons designs soon so keep posted for that one guys!

003# Sketches

Hi dolls ! Just wanted to show you guys some of my sketches and also the ones I (as I like to say) ''brought to life''. This dip and dye mini dress is like one of my favourites..for now. As soon as my mum brought some materials home and I saw the dip and dye material, I absolutely fell in love with it and started sketching out some ideas and well...there you have it.

002# TheHipster

So I haven't been on a night out on the town in the longest while. A part of me just wants to wait until my 18th birthday (21st August) and then RAVE TO THE GRAVE ...but then again I have finished college and have absolutely nothing else to do most of the time ... Ok, so that's a little white lie, I am working on so many things at the moment that I am literally getting a mental hernia! I came across the website above a couple of months ago when my friend Nancy used to post it on her FB page and ran into it again today whilst roaming the net.

The website is merely a journal of photos documenting the party/events lifestyle of young America. The photographer behind all the images is Mark 'The Cobra Snake' Hunter. The Los Angeleno started the website in 2004 and has since then remained dedicated into keeping it going.

Just browsing through the website gives you a complete insight into the lives of these fresh, young, party-goers. From the edgy effortless style to the spontaneous poses, TheCobraSnake lives!!

Check it out guys :)

So while doing some research on Mark 'The Cobra Snake' Hunter I found some videos on Youtube that I found very interesting generally and visually. I will post the 2nd Dead seasons V.2 but you can find the rest on the Youtube.

001# Introduction

So, as the summertime is approaching in full force,Melting Icons are rising. The collective consists of myself (Africa Brooke) and my partner Rox (inset). We are going to be bringing you the latest inFashion, Music, Art, Street culture, and film amongst other miscallaneous topics. As I mentioned before in my video (some of you may have seen it on my Fb account or Youtube page) we will soon be recruiting people to join the team (whether it be models, MUA's, stylists, photographers or anything in that sector). We sincerely hope this blog will give some people more insight into what exactly we do. On that note, I am now going to sign out but will have another post up in the next few hours. Do keep checking up on the blog as it will be updated regularly.
